Sprockids registration response! Wow!

Wow! We are overwhelmed by the interest and positive response that we’ve received to introducing the Sprockids program to Sault Ste. Marie. Although we are keeping this spring’s first run of the program small, we have heard loud and clear that there is a need to continue to grow and identify new ways to serve the community’s interest in kid/youth mountain bike programs.

If your rider was unable to get a place in this Spring’s program, please add your name to our Wait List so that you will receive information on future Sprockids related opportunities.

Thanks to everyone for your interest and support for the Sprockids’ program. The future for this program looks exciting!

Sprockids Registration opens at 8 PM on Sunday

Set your alarm:  Registration for Sault Cycling Club’s Sprockids Program will open online at 8 PM on Sunday, April 15, 2018 on Zone4; link provided below.  First come, first served.

The Spring 2018 session of SCC’s Sprockids will allow 40 participants, aged 4 to 12 (currently in JK to Grade 6), experience success in a group setting by learning four skill areas of cycling – safety, etiquette, riding skills, and bicycle maintenance.  Sprockids is suitable for cyclists at any riding skill level, however, riders must be able to use a two-wheeled bicycle (without training wheels) or a balance bike.

Interested in signing up for Sprockids?  Please review the program requirements in the SCC Sprockids Spring 2018 Technical Package to ensure this program is suitable for your child and family.  The technical package describes that each rider must obtain a Sault Cycling Club membership, review the Code of Ethics, undergo a bike inspection, wear a properly fitted helmet, and agree to the terms in the photography and athlete waivers.  This is a group based activity with volunteer coaches; we are unable to provide one-on-one supervision, specific medical support, or guarantee an allergen-free environment.  The registration process also includes providing your rider’s t-shirt size.  A size chart is attached below for reference.

If your rider is unable to participate in this session of Sprockids, but is keen to take part in the future, express your interest on our Wait List registration page.

Please direct any questions to sccsprockids@gmail.com

Looking forward to a fun season of biking!

Spring Sprockids Program

The Sault Cycling Club is happy to present the Sprockids learn to mountain bike course this spring. This 6-week program is geared towards cyclists aged 4 to 12 years old and will run on Thursday evenings at Kinsmen Park from May 3rd to June 7th.

The participant cost for the six week program is $60, in addition to a current Sault Cycling Club Membership.

Through a multi-tiered approach, Sprockids offers young cyclists the opportunity to experience success and build self-esteem by discovering and building upon their potential. The program teaches four skill areas for cycling – safety, etiquette, riding skills and bicycle maintenance. Sprockids is suitable for cyclists at any riding skill level, however riders must be able to use a two-wheeled bicycle (without training wheels) or a balance bike.

With Sprockids, no one sits on the bench. Our leaders are certified Sprockids coaches with the skills and passion to instruct and evaluate, demonstrating a positive outlook of cycling and learning as lifelong activities. Through playing and riding, Sprockids promotes respect for others, empathy, appreciation and responsibility for the environment. To learn more about Sprockids, visit www.sprockids.com

Registration information will be posted soon on the Sault Cycling Club’s website and facebook page. If you have any questions, send us an email to sccsprockids@gmail.com.
