Overnight ride, May 11-12th

Come along for an overnighter to Sawpit Bay, on May 11th-12th. The ride will leave Hiawatha at 1030hrs and ride 80km to Sawpit Bay (A little sliver of free camping), camp overnight, then return riding another 80km home the next day.

Riders need to bring their own camping gear, but if you’re in need let us know and we’ll see if we can find some loaner gear that you’ll have to carry. There are a few restaurants along the way, but please come prepared with own food, snacks, and burner (or you’ll have to wait your turn for morning coffee).

Weather – too far to really tell, I will keep an eye on it; bring rain gear and definitely some warm clothes  Hope to see you out there. Here’s a fun article to try and sway you: http://www.bikepacking.com/plan/overnighters/

Meet us up at Velorution on Thursday September 27th, at 7PM to join the Sault Cycling Club’s Lights and Bikes tour, We’ll equip your bike with lights (Which you get to keep!), and lead a ride around the hub trail, demonstrating how to safely ride and access important areas of the city from the trail.

You do not need to be a cycling club member to join this ride, but you’ll need a student ID, a working bike, and a helmet. There is no fee associated with this event!

Non-student club members who wish to attend can also come out, but will have to bring their own lights 🙂

St Joes Island and Bruce Mines tour, August 24-26th

Attention road riders and touring fanatics AKA 15KPH club. There will be an overnight ride planned for Aug. 24, 25, 26. This route will take us through the back country to St. Joseph Island where we will spend Friday Night in Richards Landing (accommodations pending until numbers are confirmed). Our ride on Saturday is an exciting one, we will do the island loop and our destination that day will be Bruce Mines (again accommodations pending depending on numbers). Sunday will be a nice relaxing ride back to SSM along Highway 638.
This is a self-supported tour with stops at all the classic places. Feel free to ride a stage with the group. We can condense the ride to just one overnight if it attracts more people.
If you’re interested in attending, check out the post on Facebook, or send an e-mail to info@saultcyclingclub.ca with confirmation or any questions
