Lake Superior Water Trail & the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail Celebration

This Friday the club is extending an invitation to everyone to participate in a Canada 150 event celebrating the Lake Superior Water Trail & the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail linking Sault Ste Marie to Sudbury.

Join us at 8:00AM at the Gros Cap Marina Park for some light refreshments and words from our local electees, before a guided ride into the Sault ending at The Machine Shop at 11:00AM with more snacks and local events.

Check out the Invitation to LHNC Launch for all the details and to register (Which gives the option of shuttle back to Gros Cap if you’ve left your car there)

Hwy 552 Hill Climb – 7pm May 31

The second in our series of road events this season will take place on May 31 at 7pm.  Park at Aweres School in Heyden and meet at the intersection of Hwy 552 and Bellevue Valley Rd.

This climb will follow a slightly different format from the Goulais Ave climb.  We’ll do two ascents, this time around.  The first will be just a timed run to set a handicap.  In the second, we’ll set off in handicap order and attempt to create a photo-finish.  I’ll conscript several of you to help out with timing, but don’t worry, timers will have a chance to ride too!

Though it’s a pretty hard climb, you don’t need any specific equipment or skills.  I’ve done it on a single-speed quite successfully in the past!  Just come on out and have a good time regardless of skill, fitness, or equipment.

See the Events section on the Road Calendar for more information.

Remember that you must be a member of the club to ride.  Membership is only $30.  I’d appreciate it if you purchased your membership prior to the ride, but if you’re unable, please show up early and I’ll accept your registration.

Volunteers Needed

Hopefully, everyone has heard about the upcoming Hiawatha Trails Festival (an awesome day of bikes and biking for everyone).  The Festival is May 28 from 10am-4pm.  We need volunteers to help make the day a success and showcase the club and the trails.  Tasks include set up and tear down of tents and tables, ride leaders and sweepers, bike washers, mechanics (for basic bike checks, tire pressure and bike fit adjustments), ticket sales and BBQ meisters.

Message me on Facebook to get added to the volunteer list and for more information.
