It looks like the rain will hold off until around 4pm on Sunday so let’s try to go to Goulais and be back by the early afternoon.

Depart from John Rhodes at 10:00am or Hiawatha at 10:30 or Heyden at 10:50.
Ride to Heyden.
Turn right on 556 towards Searchmont.
Turn Left on 552
Stay on 552 until you meet Highway 17
Cross Highway 17 and stay on 552.
Pass Goulais River’s old Country Store
Turn left
Cross the Goulais river
Turn left towards the highway
Lunch at the restaurant in Goulais.
Back the same way.

Here is the program for tomorrow:
– Departure from John Rhodes at 10:30am
– Trunk Rd to 17B to Echo Bay
– Left on Bar River Rd after Echo Bay
– Cross the highway then right on Government Rd
– Left Pumpkin Point Rd then back on Government Rd
– Right on MacLennan Rd
– Highway 17 to turn-off to the island
– Take 548 to 4-corners then right to Richards Landing
– Lunch at Richards Landing
– Back same way

Alternate departure locations and time if you’d like a shorter ride:
– For a 66km ride: Echo Bay at 11:30
– For a 42km ride: Corner of Government Rd and Pumpkin Point Rd around 12:00

Hi all,

This Sunday we are going to Bruce Mines through the Sylvan Valley and back either through Centre Line (harder) or through Government Rd (easier) depending on how we feel!

Depart at 9:00am from John Rhodes or 10:00 am from Echo Bay.

From John Rhodes to Echo Bay

Echo Bay to Leeburn on 638

From Leeburn continue on 638 to Bruce Mines

Lunch in Bruce Mines

Return on Highway 17 for 1.5km then turn on Centre Line

Stay on Centre Line to Leeburn and back the same way from Leeburn

Turn on Governement Rd and come back this way.

Total distance is 142km from John Rhodes, 98km from Echo Bay

Touring/Sportive Ride – Sunday, Aug. 13th – Fundraiser ride and Red Rock

This Sunday, we will join the Food Bank Farm Fundraiser ride and continue on to Red Rock after the BBQ.

Meet at 10:00am at Bondar Pavilion – The road turns into hard packed gravel at the end of Macki Rd so bring your Mountain Bike or Cross Bike or Road Bike with wide tires.

Ride to the farm on top of Maki Rd through a part of the Hub Trail and 4th Line. Tour the farm and have a BBQ. Then continue on to Red Rock. Back a shorter way.

Total is about 50km. The entire route is here.

Donations to the farm are tax deductible. For every $20 donated you will receive a ticket for a draw!
