Who We Are

The Sault Cycling Club is a registered not for profit corporation that depends on membership fees and donations to achieve our mission of promoting cycling and cycling-related activities. Our board of directors meets monthly and currently consists of sixteen volunteers.

Our Trails

Our home trails are at Hiawatha Highlands where we maintain the single track trail system. Thousands of volunteer hours have gone into creating and maintaining this diverse trail system.

The three single track trail systems at Hiawatha Highlands are on private land in which the landowners have provided permission for the existing trail networks. Continued permission for use of the properties for mountain biking is a privilege that must be maintained through responsible maintenance and use of the trails.

A special thank you goes out to the Sault Ste. Marie Kinsmen Club, Sault Ste. Marie Regional Conservation Authority and the Government of Ontario (MNRF, Tarentorus Fish Culture Station). Please respect these lands.

Cycling for All

The SCC believes in the power of trails to develop community. Our aim is to demonstrate that projects like the Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail are complementary to municipal parks and playground infrastructure—with outstanding benefits to everyone in the community.

Our long-term vision is a city-wide network of accessible, interconnected trails, making active transportation (such as cycling and walking) a viable option for all residents, no matter where they live. We support existing trail infrastructure and we’re excited about how the Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail will enhance the Hub Trail, Voyageur Trail and other informal trails throughout the city.

Kids Programs

Kids Shredding Single-track (KSS) and the KSS Farm Team are our local SCC initiatives to encourage youth cycling in our community.

Kids Shredding Singletrack is for 8 to 16-year-old riders. The focus is on introducing kids to fun and safe mountain biking in a non-competitive environment.

KSS Farm Team encourages cyclists aged 5 to 13 (currently in SK to Grade 7) to experience success in a group setting by learning four skill areas of cycling safety, etiquette, riding skills, and bicycle maintenance. Sprockids is suitable for cyclists at any riding skill level on a two-wheeled bicycle (no training wheels or balance bikes). This program is not currently running.

To participate in our kids programs, your child must:
1. Be a Sault Cycling Club member.
2. Have access to a mountain bike in reasonable repair. (a bike check form will need to be completed and signed by the parent or a bicycle mechanic)
3. Wear a helmet.
4. Be fit and motivated to ride in an outing.
