Gravel Series #3 – Echo Bay – Aug 30

As the season winds down, it’s time to get the gravel, cyclocross, and XC bikes out!  Come out and get some practice in on the loose surfaces prior the gravel grinders and Cyclocross races this year.

I don’t expect to be out after dark, but sunset is getting earlier and earlier, so it would be wise to bring lights.

This Week’s ride starts at the Echo Bay Central Public School at 7:00pm.  Map: Google.

This will be a social, no-drop ride following Church St to Pioneer then right on Watson to cross Hwy 17.  We’ll head down 17B briefly and then right on to Maple Leaf Rd for a section of sandy gravel.  We’ll take another left on a 2-track road and head south until we get to Lakeview Road for some well-groomed gravel.  Head left on Lake George Rd and cross Hwy 17 again then left on Government Rd to head back on up to Watson Rd.  Turn right to get to Pioneer Rd then follow that to Echo Lake Rd, which turns in to more well-groomed gravel after a short distance.  We’ll shred that gravel until we get back to Hwy 17B where we’ll take a left and ride back to the school.  Map: RidewithGPS

Shawn will be leading a C-group ride which may involve some light gravel, but she’ll be on her road bike, so we’re talking easily-passable roads.
