Beginning of Season Trail Maintenance – UPDATE – Date Change

Mountain bike hovering over a trail.

Important Update

Not only is the snow still deep in the woods…but it is getting deeper!!!  Our maintenance day will be postponed until Sunday May 12, 2018 (if we can’t find dirt by then, bring your snowblower!).  Still looking for volunteers (see note below) for the day and for an evening or two in the week leading up to the event.

Original Post:

The snow is still deep in the woods, but we’re already planning a spring trail maintenance event.

April 29, 2018 from 9 to noon we will have a maintenance day at Hiawatha.

No previous trail work experience is required to attend and you don’t even have to be a member of the Sault Cycling Club.  We welcome all help!

Come out and learn the basics of trail maintenance and play a part in getting our trails ready for another season.

I’m looking for volunteers to help coordinate this event.  Specifically, I’m looking for:

  1. 2-3 people willing to do a trail inspection during the week leading up to the event (requires approx. 2 hours to survey a trail section, noting the maintenance work required, maps, forms and instructions provided)
  2. 2-6 crew leaders to lead crews on the day of the event
  3. 1 person willing to coordinate refreshments on the day of the event

Mark April 29 on your calendars and come on out for a fun spring day in the woods, on your favorite trails!
