Gravel Series #5 (final) – Sept 16, 2017 – Red Rock/Outspoken

This week we change day, time, and start locations, but it’s all for a good reason (see below for the finish location)!

We’ll start from McMeeken Arena on Saturday, Sept 16, at 6pm.  Map: Google.

This route will involve a fairly technical 3km climb.  I did it today on a CX bike with 31C tires and I don’t have the best of off-road skills, so it’s definitely passable, but I feel a bike with wider tires may be better suited, so if  you have one in your stable, this is the week to get it out.

We’ll be ending at the Outspoken brewery, so it would be wise to bring lights for the ride home after!

A/B Groups: This will be a social, no-drop ride out to Red Rock and back.  We start by heading up to Third Line and across to Maki Road.  After climbing the hill, the pavement turns to some pretty nice gravel.  Road bikes with wide tires will make it, but you might chip your paint.  At the T-intersection in Red Rock, we turn around and do the gravel climb out and back down to Third Line.  From here, we take Korah and Rossmore Roads over to Peoples Road and down to Wellington.  That gets us to Glouchester/Andrew Streets and a left on Albert which will take us over to Outspoken Brewery’s outdoor patio for some post-ride refreshment.  Map: RidewithGPS
