TURKEY CROSS RACE RECAP

Turkey Cross took place on the Algoma University campus, a brand new venue for local cyclocross competitors and fans.  The 2km course proved more challenging than many thought with tight turns, off camber sections and detour through the Athletic Centre.

The day featured 3 races: “A”, “B” and a Kids race.  Joel Wenham took the title in the 19 person “B” race.  Danielle Anstess was the first female across the line in a very competitive women’s field.  In the kids race Ryder Strachn crossed the line first followed by first time racers Mia Lloyd and Felix Schamp.  The “A” race saw plenty of lead changes as several top riders suffered flat tires.  In the end, Brent Krmpotich emerged victorious crossing the line just ahead of youngster Corey Ellah.

It was a fabulous day, everyone enjoyed the weather and the camaraderie.  We look forward to returning to this venue next year.
